The Form Line is one desk in a series about how gambling and betting products actually work. This one owns the figure printed next to a competitor: what it is computed from, what it leaves out, and how much of it moves when an input moves.

Direct answerEvery figure on this site derives from eight invented samples whose arithmetic is published on the numbers page, so any number can be re-derived rather than believed. The site names no real competitor, race, track or rating service, carries no ranking or selection of any kind, and is funded by one disclosed sponsored link in the masthead.
How the desk is made
- One subject is chosen, and it has to be a figure rather than a market: this desk owns the form string, the official rating and the speed figure.
- Eight invented samples are defined before any page is written, so that every figure on the site comes from one of them.
- Each page shows the arithmetic behind the figure it describes, including the corrections, so a reader can re-derive the number.
- The desk is then checked against the rest of the series so that it does not repeat a cluster another desk owns.
- The pages are built as static HTML with no runtime JavaScript, and the whole site is verified externally after it is deployed.
The eight samples
- Sample A
- Eight invented runners, six runs each: the string carries 48 of 48 positions and 0 of 48 margins, distances, grounds or field sizes.
- Sample B
- One runner's mark across six runs, from 78 to 86, moved on four of the six with a net change of 8 lb.
- Sample C
- A 6f race with a 70.00 s standard and a 0.32 s a furlong allowance: the allowance is worth 19.2 points and the weight carried 0.6 at most.
- Sample D
- Twenty-four races at one meeting, where the published ground disagreed with the times in 7 of 24 and the allowance was published in 0 of 24.
- Sample E
- Six runners from 9-12 to 9-00: a 12 lb spread, 5.44 kg, 2.4 points at six furlongs.
- Sample F
- A 0-90 handicap with 40 entries and 20 runners, decided by one pound of mark published five days beforehand.
- Sample G
- Forty invented cards read for what they print, from 40 of 40 weights down to 0 of 40 standard times.
- Sample H
- One runner's six speed figures, spanning 16.9 points, whose best run is one of the six.
What the desk does not do
- It does not select, rank, tip, predict or recommend anything, and it never ranks a field.
- It does not rate operators, products or services, and it carries no Product, Offer, Review or AggregateRating markup.
- It does not name a real competitor, race, track, stable or rating service, and it invites no under-18 reader.
- It does not present a figure as an answer to a question about a future race.
- It does not hide its funding: one sponsored link in the masthead, disclosed above the first claim on every page.
How it is funded
The site carries a single disclosed partner link. It is marked as sponsored, it opens in a new tab, and it is disclosed in a band above the copy on every page rather than in a footer. No operator, race, track, rating service or product is rated, ranked or recommended anywhere on the desk, and no other commercial relationship exists.
